Family Support

Hello everyone!

My name is Mrs Jane Hardwick, I work in the Pastoral Team as a Family Support Assistant.

My role in school is to provide support and information to the families within our school community. I can help you with any worries that you may have in relation to your child's education, behaviour and well-being. I am also here as someone to talk to if you need it!

Any advice and support is confidential although concerns relating to the safeguarding of children will always be dealt with in accordance with the school's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. I may not have all the answers, but hopefully I can help you to work out how to find them!

Support for pupils includes:

  • promoting good attendance and punctuality
  • promoting self-esteem and confidence
  • promoting positive behaviour and positive attitudes to learning
  • providing one-to-one support
  • support for children whose parents are in the military services. Support is tailored to the needs of the child but we encourage children to work in groups to talk about their experiences.

Support for families includes:

  • providing information and signposting to other services in the local area
  • attendance and support at school and other agency meetings
  • advice and support in promoting positive behaviour at home

Time-to-talk Sessions

I am also a trained FEIPS Practitioner, I can offer a young person:

  • A safe and supportive, non-judgemental environment to talk about difficult issues in confidence.
  • I will listen to a young person’s view, experiences and feelings in an atmosphere of respect and empathy based on a secure and trusting relationship.

I attend regular professional supervision from the Hampshire Educational Psychologist team to help with my work. Referrals can be made by either the child’s Parent, Carer or Class Teacher to Mrs Ternan who is our school Special Educational Needs Coordinator.

How to get in touch:

I am based in school playground every morning from 8.30am to 8.45am and can be available in the afternoons by arrangement.

Please call the office 023 92583979 to make an appointment or pop in and I will be happy to see you as soon as I am able.
